Wagner Performing Arts Center

Overview

Wagner Performing Arts Center
The Wagner Performing Arts Center is a historical auditorium with 640 seats that was originally known as Wagner Memorial Auditorium in Monroe, WA.

Built in 1939, The Wagner Memorial Auditorium was built with almost 700 seats for the communities use. Due to financial issues, the full scope of the original blueprints were not able to be finished. The location has been a part of Monroe history with multiple uses for several generations. In the 60's after the earthquake devastated another local school, the stage was used as the High School library, and the auditorium as Study Hall.
The Monroe School District ran the auditorium until September 2011. That's when the agreement was finally reached with the Monroe Arts Council (an umbrella organization for local arts groups in the greater Monroe area) to take over the daily management of the auditorium. The agreement states that while the MAC (Monroe Arts Council; a 501(c)3 organization) has possession of the Auditorium, the goal is to update and renovate the almost 100 year old facility.
